The computer game World of Warcraft has been described as "the most dangerous game on the market" by addiction therapists at Sweden's Stiftelsen Ungdomsvård (Youth Care Foundation).

According to The Local, the organization, which works to advocate active alternatives to gaming, has determined that World of Warcraft plays a serious role in gaming addiction, being as addictive as cocaine.

They even cite that there is not a single case of gaming addiction where World of Warcraft is not involved.

"There is not a single case of game addiction that we have worked with in which World of Warcraft has not played a part," according to Sven Rollenhagen at the foundation to the newspaper Metro.

In November 2008, it was reported that a 15-year-old boy from Laholm (northern Sweden) was collapsed and went into convulsions after playing World of Warcraft for 20 hours continuously.

The game’s US makers Blizzard Entertainment have said 11 million people worldwide play World of Warcraft.

Teenagers Abigail and Brittany Hensel have managed to defy all medical odds to strike a point that twins can share a body and live a happy life.

According to The Sun, the 18-year-old twins are believed to be one of only four sets of dicephalus twins ever to survive into teen years.

The Hensels have two spines, which join at the pelvis, two hearts and stomachs, three kidneys, two gall bladders and four lungs.

But they share one liver, ribcage, a nervous system and all organs below the waist including intestines, bladder and reproductive organs.

Each twin controls one side of the body and they can play the piano, swim, ride a bike and take part in sport activities.

Both Abigail and Brittany have even passed their driving test with each sister using one arm to control the steering wheel.

Despite the doctors' warning to their parents, nurse Patty and carpenter Mike, that their girls may not survive their first night on March 7, 1990, the twins have grown up to live an active life.

Only one set of twins in every 40,000 is born connected in some way and only one percent of these survive beyond the first year.

Doctors are worried that Abigail and Brittany will eventually suffer heart or other organ defects.

But none has shown so far and the twins even hope to marry one day.

Surgeons in Arizona thought a woman had a possible brain tumor, but it turned out there was something else penetrating her brain – a worm!

Doctors operated on Rosemary Alvarez after she experiencing numbness in her arm and blurred vision.

She went to the emergency room twice and had an x-ray, but everything appeared normal.

It was only when doctors took a closer look at an MRI that they discovered something very disturbing.

Neurosurgeon Dr Peter Nakaji told MyFOXPhoenix.com: "Once we saw the MRI we realised this is something not good. It's something down in her brain stem which is as deep in the brain as you can be."

Alvarez was taken into the operating room where Dr Nakaji and his colleagues were expecting to remove a tumor, but they uncovered a worm instead.

On a video of the surgery, Dr Nakaji can be heard chuckling after he discovered the worm.

"I'm sure this is a very strange response for the people in the operating room," he said. "But because I was so pleased to know that it wasn't going to be something terrible."

Doctors removed the worm and believe Alvarez will not have any lingering health problems.

It is not known where she picked up the worm, but doctors said worms can come from eating undercooked pork or spread by people who don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom.

"It only takes one person who is spreading it constantly to get a lot of people exposed and some of those people are going to go on to develop this problem," Dr Nakaji added.

Alvarez, who is now healthy, said she hopes people learn lessons from her story.

"Wash your hands, wash your hands," she noted.

Jose Luis Garza, who weighed a whopping 450kg, has died of heart failure despite emergency officials had to destroy his bedroom wall and put him in the back of a pickup truck so he could be taken to hospital.

But the 47-year-old of Juarez was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in northern Mexico.

Garza followed in the footsteps of the world's fattest man, fellow Mexican Manuel Uribe of Monterrey, by taking his weight problem public.

Uribe, whose record weight of 560kg earned him a place in the 2008 Guinness Book of Records, has claimed to have lost around 250kg by dieting.

Garza said he had always struggled with his weight but fell into a cycle of depression and began overeating nine months ago after his parents died.

He had not left his bed for four months and his condition deteriorated over the weekend as he struggled to breathe and eat.



An enormous coffin had to be constructed and his burial was delayed as cemetery workers enlarged the grave.

A funeral home worker Maribel Cantu told the Associated Press: "The family wanted to cremate him but there wasn't an adequate oven for someone his size. He is the biggest man we have buried."

Canadian-led research revealed "knowledge-based work" makes people eat more than when just resting, which may contribute to the obesity problem in the world.

Researchers made the discovery by splitting 14 university student volunteers into three groups for a 45-minute session of either relaxing in a sitting position, reading and summarizing a text, or completing a series of memory, attention, and vigilance tests on the computer.

Then the participants were invited to eat as much as they pleased.

Though the study was preliminary with a small number of participants, the results were stark.

The students who performed the summarizing task consumed 203 more calories than the students relaxing, and those who performed the computer tests ate 253 more.

Blood tests showed that intellectual work made the students more hungry by sending glucose and insulin levels haywire.

Well it may explain why today’s kids are getting fatter — while achieving better exam marks.

The researchers concluded: "This is a factor that should not be ignored, considering that more and more people hold jobs of an intellectual nature."

This should make you think twice about skipping out on exercise.
